Last Sunday, mela:mcnew teamed up with Food Forward at the Hollywood Farmers Market. Food Forward is an organization that rescues surplus produce from fruit trees, farmers markets and the Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market. All the fruits and vegetables are donated to over 300 hunger relief agencies across Southern California. We collected 888 pounds of fresh, local produce. All of it was entirely donated to Food Not Bombs, Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition, LA LGBT Center (Triangle Square), Project Angel Food, Revolutionary Autonomous Communities (RAC), Ronald McDonald House, and The Red, White, and Blue Cross! We met a wonderful group of like-minded people and thoroughly enjoyed spending our Sunday serving others. If you're interested in volunteering, visit foodforward.org.
